A Core Deposit Intangible is the difference between current book value and the higher valuation placed on the acquired core deposit balances by the buyer. Core Deposit Intangible values can also be expressed as a percent of the underlying book value, i.e. Percent Intangible = (Dollar Intangible/Book Value of Acquired Deposits).
