Explanation:
Autor pisze, żeby bulwy wykopywać (lift) 3 tygodnie po "burn off", i że muszą być suche.
Przygotowując plantację ziemniaków do zbioru mechanicznego właśnie w tym terminie niszczy się łęciny i ew. chwasty na plantacji. Są różne metody niszczenia łęcin. Jedną z nich jest oprysk defoliantem, który niejako "wypala" części naziemne roślin ziemniaka.
Niszczenie łęcin ułatwia właśnie obsychanie bulw i przyspiesza dojrzewanie naskórka (zbiór mechaniczny przeprowadza się wtedy, gdy naskórek się nie łuszczy, gdyż wtedy uszkodzenia bulw są najmniejsze).

Czuję, że nie ma to nic wspólnego z wypalaniem sensu stricte. Inaczej nie byłoby w cudzysłowiach. Chodzi raczej efekt działania inhibitora kiełkowania. Niestety nie jestem w stanie znaleźć potwierdzenia. Może kontakt z Instytutem w Puławach pomógłby?
