Dear Miss English:
I am a musician here in Vienna and would like to cover the song “Wonderwall” by the band Oasis. I could not find the word “wonderwall” in the dictionary. Could you please explain it’s meaning to me?
Signed Thomas, Vienna
Dear Thomas:
What a very interesting letter. You are absolutely right, the word “wonderwall” does not exist in any dictionary, because it wasn’t an official word. I say wasn’t, because if Oasis can define it, I’m sure it will find it’s way into the dictionary.
However, I may be able to help you. I happen to know that the song was written for Noel Gallagher’s wife. If we break it into its parts, we get wonder and wall. Wonder means “something very special or miraculous”. The idea of the word wall could be either a wall that protects or the wall that will bounce back what you throw against it. The fact that we have wonder in the word must mean, it is a positive adjective. The wall, you must work out for yourself. If anybody else has any ideas about this origin, please write in.

cud-opoka

Explanation:
tak mi się kojarzy w aspekcie małżeńsko-religijno-estetycznym na podstawie wyjaśnienia bartka: że żona jak opoka dla małżeństwa i bóstwo dla męża, a przy tym piękna, że cud :-).

Propozycja do przemyśleń.

Written By Noel Gallagher Published by Creation Songs Ltd / Sony Music Publishing

Today is gonna be the day
That they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now

Backbeat the word was on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels
The way I do about you now

And all the roads we have to walk along are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would
Like to say to you
I don't know how

Because maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me?
And after all
You're my wonderwall

Today was gonna be the day
But they'll never throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you're not to do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do
About you now

And all the roads that lead to you were winding
And all the lights that light the way are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
I don't know how

I said maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me?
And after all
You're my wonderwall

I said maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me?
And after an
You're my wonderwall

Said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me
