Overview
Following a review under Standard & Poor's revised bank criteria (published on Nov. 9, 2011), we have affirmed our 'BBBpi' unsolicited public information (pi) rating on Bank Handlowy w Warszawie S.A. (Handlowy).
The rating on Handlowy reflects our 'bbb-' anchor, as well as our view that the bank's business position and risk position are negative rating factors; its capital and earnings is a positive rating factor; while funding and liquidity is neutral.
The rating benefits from some uplift above the bank's stand-alone credit profile, as we consider Handlowy to be a strategically important subsidiary of Citigroup.
Rating Action
As we previously announced on Dec. 13, 2011, Standard & Poor's Ratings
Services affirmed its unsolicited 'BBBpi' public information (pi) rating on
Poland-based Bank Handlowy w Warszawie S.A. (Handlowy).
Rationale
The rating on Handlowy reflects our 'bbb-' anchor, as well as our view that
the bank's business position and risk position are negative rating factors;
its capital and earnings is a positive rating factor; while its funding and
liquidity are neutral. The bank's stand-alone credit profile (SACP) is in the
