English term or phrase: browsing lawns
Recently the concept of 'browsing lawns' has been described for Acacia species in a south African savannahs as an analogue to the concept of grazing lawns described by (...).
These browsing lawns are described as trees with a repressed growth form due to chronic intensive browsing by herbivores.
These trees showed browsing-tolerance traits such as increased regrowth ability of shoots and leaves and extensive branching in response to browsing.
(...)Concluding, the key new finding that the present project can add to existing knowledge is to show that browsing lawns may be a phenomenon not unique to African systems, additionally, that the formation of browsing lawns may be beneficial for both the herbivore as the browsed tree and offer an example of co-evolution between herbivores and their food plants.

pastwiska wyskubywane

Explanation:
