"For welding we use DLP-focusing mirror. With this mirror the shape of the welding seam can be adapted to the process. (...) The DLP-mirror (double-line-paraboloid) produce 2 focusing lines, crosswise in a certain distance. In your application one line is placed on the surface of the gear/synchronizer crosswise to the welding direction. The other line is placed on the root of the seam. This effects that the speed of cooling of the seam is decreased and the hardness is lower."
