Wał z założenia wiruje i w ten sposób przekazuje moc. Nie ma potrzeby podkreślania tego faktu.
Analogicznie w przypadku kół zębatych też nie pisze się, że są obrotowe. Wyjątek: przekładnie planetarne, w których jedno z kół zębatych może być nieruchome, ale wtedy zaznacza się to wyjątkowe koło.
