To Allda: how about "instrument / przedmiot ostry"; "narzędzie" could be a kitchen knife in the hands of a health worker after hours.. ;) actually, needles etc. are considered a health hazard right after use: "healthcare worker handling the sharp" - prawcownik zdrowia rozporządzający odpadem ostrym / odpadami ostrymi".. ?

not necessarily, handling the sharps means actually disposing of them; they are teeth, syringes etc. before they become sharps - tooth bits, used syringes, etc.; this is why the health and safety regulations require puncture-resistant containers for "handling the sharps":

Asker: wielkie dzięki, będzie pasować do pierwszego kontekstu, ale do drugiego "handling the sharp" juz nie. "ostre narzędzie"?

Asker: dzięki, dla mnie "handling the sharp" oznacza "posługujący się nim", przedmiot jest w trakcie używania, wiec jeszcze nie jest odpadem ...Mylę się?
