The baby had lensectomy in both eyes. I assume that the lens diaphragm was pushed forward making the anterior chamber very shallow.

"Teczówka (iris) jest umiesniona czescia blony naczyniowej otaczajacej otwór nazywany zrenica. Dzieki zawartemu w niej pigmentowi jest kolorowa. Miesnie teczówki pozwalaja na zwiekszanie lub zmniejszanie doplywu swiatla przez regulacje wielkosci zrenicy."

The eye dilates (opens wider) and constricts (becomes narrower) because of the ability of the iris to adjust to more or less light.
