Chodzi o odcinki rur połączone w jedną (długą) rurę - w energetyce kotłowej jest to po prostu rura.
Mieszanka parowo-wodna krąży w następującym obiegu: walczak, rury opadowe, rury łączące, dolne komory zbiorcze ekranów (przedniego, tylnego i bocznych), ekrany kotła, górne komory zbiorcze, walczak. (...) Ekrany [czyli rury ekranowe] wykonuje się z rur kotłowych (K10 lub K18) o odpowiedniej średnicy i grubości g=4÷5÷6 mm oraz płaskownika PT 20×5 lub 25×6 połączonych spoiną pachwinową wykonaną w otoczeniu gazu szlachetnego (np. argonu) lub neutralnego (CO2).
