English to Polish translations [PRO]
English term or phrase: KOMUNIKAT
Drodzy Koledzy,

Below, I include excerpts from comments on the first materialization of ProZ, i.e. the 1st ProZ Convention in Tuscany, Sep. 21-22. Btw, the buzz word was: "Specialize!" And also: "Use CAT tools!"

Perfectly stated, Berni.

In truth, was never meant to be anything more than a "useful
tool." So I was surprised and delighted to see the friendships that
formed in Porto Santo Stefano, and to meet groups of translators who
had met online before the event. It is clear to me now that the
relationships among members are infinitely more important than the
technologies, which merely provide a platform.

And it is true that the people at the event were inordinately
interesting, intelligent and friendly--as capable of rolling up their
sleeves and getting down to business as they are of enjoying good
food, wine and conversation. I, too, was left wondering why this
might be so. I think that the independent spirit, passion and
professionalism that one needs to "make it" in this business might
have something to do with it.

In all respects, the convention exceeded my expectations.

For this success, we have Angela Arnone, and also Paola Ludovici MacQuarrie,
to thank and congratulate. They have succeeded in creating a true sense of
cooperation in the ItalianEnglish community. When Italian
translators talk about, they say "we". This is a reflection
of Angela and Paola's approach. It is the atmosphere that they have
created through their moderation, and through their leadership by
example, in KudoZ. They challenge people to be good, while they
themselves are excellent.
