"slab" pode ser laje, tábua, prancha, ladrilho, fatia ou qualquer coisa que tenha a forma de um paralelepípedo achatado, segundo o dicionário de inglês-português do Vallandro. Não tenho 100% de certeza, pois acho que também poderia ser a colocação de piso com ladrilhos. Teria que ter mais informções sobre o contexto para ter mais certeza.
