A "image tear" ocorre sempre que um monitor ou a placa de vídeo utilizada não tenham velocidade de actualização suficientemente rápida para que a primeira imagem seja eliminada antes de ser exposta a seguinte fazendo com que a imagem apareça com cortes ou partes que não lhe pertencem.
