Out for Conversion - The process of ordering a product, for added service or conversion, from a vendor, in which the components required to create the product are provided by Timken. The completed product is then shipped back to Timken and added to the appropriate material inventory. Timken retains ownership of all material inventory through the process

Subcontracting – A process where material is sent to a vendor for conversion prior to or after manufacturing being performed at a Timken plant. Material sent to vendor is consumed by vendor in the creation of a different material.

External Processing – A process where Timken uses an external vendor to perform a service during manufacturing. The process performed by the vendor is one of the intermediate steps IN THE OWNING PLANT'S PRODUCTION ROUTING.
