A palavra significa gazeteiro, matador de aula, faltoso, mas estou tentando achar uma palavra mais formal, pois trata-se de uma carta enviada aos pais sobre o excesso de faltas do aluno.

neutral  Vidomar: Oi, Flávio. Trabalho no magistério desde 1983 e posso garantir-te com plena certeza que tanto faltoso como relapso são termos de uso corrente na escola. Faltoso é só aluno que falta muito, enquanto que relapso é o negligente. Não é nada tão pesado assim.

Uma palavra formal para quem reincide em erro é relapso. Porém relapso habitual seria redundante. Daí a sugestão de omitir habitual e pôr só relapso.
