An Italian university advertises that they offer Major and Master tracks, besides graduate level degrees, a four year degree, specializations and Graduate Schools. Would the Major and Master tracks mean what we in Brazil call Stricto Senso and Lato Senso?

Major corresponde à pós-graduação lato sensu (escreve-se corretamente desta forma), ou seja, Especialização.

Master é o nosso Mestrado. Na verdade a pós-graduação stricto sensu compreende os vários níveis: Mestrado, Doutorado e Pós-Doutorado.

Na verdade, no sistema inglês e americano, essa figura da especialização não tem uma denominação exata. É como se alguém quisesse fazer apenas os créditos teóricos de um Mestrado/ Master.
