That being understood, what is being referred to is not the manner/style of said standing back, but the fact that she stood back (or rather, that she took a back stance).

Asker: Agradeço a sua sugestão e observação quanto à pergunta "dupla". A única razão de eu não ter postado duas perguntas é que eu ache desnecessário criar dois tópicos e pedir a ajuda de colegas duas vezes quando expressões sobre as quais eu tinha dúvidas eram tão parecidas e ocorrem no mesmo parágrafo no texto. Achei que seria mais fácil compreender o sentido das duas expressões lendo-as ao mesmo tempo e não em diferentes tópicos.
