Explanation:
Iron ore is commonly found in two forms in the North Pennines. Both are associated with the mineral veins. SIDERITE IS IRON CARBONATE AND IS CALLED "WHITE IRON" as it forms a white crystalline mass when it is pure. Less pure forms can be buff or grey.
