Em Português de Portugal a palavra usada é exactamente a mesma. É um galicismo. Diz-se, por exemplo, da pessoa titulada com com um documento para pilotar aviões. Ex.: ele anda a tirar o brevet porque quer ser piloto de aviões. Corresponde, se quisermos, a uma espécie de carta de condução (driving licence) quando falamos de carros.
