English term or phrase: trick taking card game
***Trick-taking games*** are card games with a distinct and common play structure: Each round of play is divided into units called tricks, during which each player selects one card from his or her hand.

Explanation:
It is nothing to do with "truques". A trick in the context of card games is "uma vaza".

I am sure of the meaning, just not so sure of the best way to translate it into PT...
Hopefully this will help you come up with something better.

Sorry Gisele, I forgot this was a word that was bound to be different in PT-BR.

Do you understand now what vaza/trick is?

Notes to answerer
Asker: I have no idea what a vaza is ;). I suppose it is a PT-PT term. I am leaning towards rodada, but I am still not convinced.

Asker: You have pointed me to the right direction, and I found out the word vaza is also used in Brasil, although I had never heard it before ;) I ended up using rodada, because, as it seems to have a similar meaning and it has been used before to describe this particular game. Thanks a lot for your help!
