Um Exchange Trade Fund (ETF) é um fundo negociado em bolsa que permite tomar uma posição sobre um índice.
O objectivo do investimento consiste em replicar a performance do respectivo índice.
Os ETFs são valores mobiliários cotados em bolsa, que podem ser transaccionados em bolsa ou fora do mercado regulamentado de forma semelhante à usada para transaccionar acções.
Os ETFs combinam as vantagens da diversificação dos fundos de investimento, a facilidade de negociação das acções, o baixo tracking-error, o retorno adicional proveniente dos dividendos e os custos reduzidos.
