IT (Information Technology)
English term or phrase: chatty
Distributed applications often require frequent communications between the client and back end application server to ensure synchronization and data consistency. These frequent update messages typically utilize predefined formats and protocols that are highly redundant and hence
generate a large number of repetitive patterns across the network. These enterprise applications are often referred to as “chatty” because of their many small network transactions that in aggregate consume significant network resources. In addition to these chatty protocols, regular
bulk database transfers across distributed servers or groups of clients and a centralized server also generate a high degree of network traffic redundancy. The result is that distributed applications frequently send repetitive data across the wide area network.
