Cuando no hay un contrato exacto, in quantum meruit quiere decir el valor del trabajo hecho, el valor actual, por ejemplo, las horas que ha pasado el abogado, el precio de las fotocopias, sellos, etc.

He usado mucho este remedio de quantum meruit cuando NO HABIA un acuerdo entre las partes, por ejemplo, en casos de trabajo de construcción donde no se había llegado a un acuerdo pero se había hecho el trabajo... o en casos de cualquier trabajo hecho sin contrato, donde a la hora de ir a corte teníamos que buscar a un experto que explicara el valor del trabajo en la industria, el costo, etc.
I have used this type of remedy many times WHEN THERE WAS NO AGREEMENT between the parties, for example in construction cases where although there is no agreement, the work is done, or in any type of work done where there is no specific agreement, and at the time of trial, you have to get an expert to testify what the work is worth...
