What is Stage-Gate®?

The Stage-Gate® process is an operational roadmap for driving new product projects from idea to launch - a blueprint for managing the new product process - improving effectiveness and efficiency. Pioneered and developed by Dr. Robert G. Cooper, it is the world’s most widely used new product development process.

How it Works

New product development begins with an idea and ends with the successful launch of a new product. The steps between these points can be viewed as a dynamic process. Stage-Gate® divides this process into a series of activities (stages) and decision points (gates).

Stage-Gate Process A widely-employed product development process form managing product development that divides the effort into distinct time-sequenced stages separated by management decision gates. Multifunctional teams must successfully complete a prescribed set of related cross-functional tasks in each stage prior to obtaining management approval to proceed to the next stage of product development. The framework of the stage-gate process includes work-flow and decision-flow paths and defines the supporting systems and practices necessary to ensure the process's ongoing smooth operation

stage gated approach
abordagem stage-gate

Explanation:
