Encontrei outra definição de backward invention que contradiz o que eu havia colocado:
A product strategy in international marketing in which a company produces a less complex version of its domestic product for developing and less-developed countries.
Nesse caso, talvez o melhor seja usar a própria definição, porque talvez não exista um termo que case perfeitamente com o conceito.
