The study enrolled 369 patients successfully implanted with a combined CRT/ICD device who were randomized to either CRT off (control, n = 182) or CRT on (n = 187) for 6 months. ICD function was activated in all patients. In the CRT group, the device was programmed to pace both ventricles simultaneously following atrial-sensed events at rates of 130 beats per min (bpm).
