English to Portuguese translations [PRO] Medical - Medical: Health Care / dental insurance
English term or phrase:deductable
Sentence: calendar year deductible: $50.00
I use to have trouble with that word. In auto-insurance in Brazil, we say: franquia (simples ou dedutível). Should we use franquia or custo dedutível (or valor dedutível) in Dental/Health care insurance? I would like to comment that I looked the word "dedutível" up in the Houaiss dict (the big one) and only shows the word "dedutível" as an adjective. Therefore if using it, it must be preceded by "custo" or "valor". Another comment I need to make is that the word "dedutível" in Brazil is commonly used in tax returns, but I do not see it commonly used in health insurance management.
I´d appreciate your help and, please be so kind as to make the degree of certainty reflect how you really feel about your answer. Thank you.
