English term or phrase: Sripe, on the other hand, continues to try and climb the pillar a second time.
Eu gostaria de uma maior compreensão da frase; seria: Stripe, por outro lado, continua tentando e subindo o pilar/coluna pela segunda vez.
Teria outra maneiramais clara?

'continues in his attempt to climb the pillar for the 2nd time

Explanation:
STripe, on the other hand, continues to try and climb the pillar a second time.

STripe, por outro lado, continua tentando e subindo o pilar/coluna pela segunda vez.

Paraphrased, the ST could read 'continues in his attempt to climb the pillar for the 2nd time'

Your trans seems OK, but is it not possible to say 'continua tentando a subir ...'? The double -ando/-indo semms unnatural/clumsy. It MIGHT in fact be better Pt to write as in the paraphrased sentence.

Note the misspelling of SRIPE/STRIPE - the first would be a strange name for a children's story. The 2nd is logical for a caterpillar.
