Your Council Tax band is based on the market value of your home in April 1991. Your home is placed in a valuation band by the Government's Valuation Office.
The values are :
A Up to £40,000
B £40,000 to £52,000
C £52,001 to £68,000
D £68,001 to £88,000
E £88,001 to £120,000
F £120,001 to £160,000
G £160,001 to £320,000
H £320,000 or more.
If you want to appeal
You can appeal to the Inland Revenue against your banding if :
Your house has been converted to flats
Your property or similar property has been rebranded
If you do appeal, you must pay the amount which appears on your bill until the appeal is settled.
