"dim" é reduzir gradualmente a luminosidade, até a escuridão total.

I guess we are used to see it in Brazil more like: "A iluminação dentro do auditório será totalmente reduzida por 5 minutos...". I have never seen the word "obscurecida" being used in such context in Brazil, perhaps in Portugal...
