Concordo plenamente com 'Isarcat' e 'Amilcar' - quando dizem que 'imbecil' seria pesado demais nesse caso (chowderhead).

Concordo ainda com KlausinSP em relação a 'ironically' sendo bastante 'artificial'..alias em inglês, choca com o resto.

Nó cego = bastante coloquial no PT-BR e o peso vem pela ênfase na hora de falar - a justaposição com 'esperto' - cria, a ironia.

Talentoso - não soa como sendo de uso coloquial num contexto desse estilo - papo banal entre dois amigos igualmente 'nó cegos'..!
