Hot-Tap Procedure Recommendations

The following is intended to be an illustrative guide based on industry experience:

Hot-tap holes 3.8 cm (1.5”) and larger shall be cut using a drilling machine fitted with a hole saw and drill. The hot-tap hole COUPON must be removed as part of the hot-tap operation. The drill that is part of the hole saw shall be fitted with a device that will catch the COUPON for removal when the hole saw is removed. Hole sizes less than 3.8 cm (1.5”) shall be drilled.
