Explanation:
The MTL-2 (A) and MTL-2 (R) sensors are 10-turn B-dot probes utilized in free space measurements that are generally not positioned closer than a few sensor diameters from conducting surfaces. The multi-turn design increases the sensor's sensitivity (equivalent area) over the equivalent diameter MGL-6 sensor. The sensor consists of two identical 5-turn loops in a counterwound configuration. Each of the two loops contains one signal gap. The outputs of the 5-turn loops are connected in series at the sensor output, a TCC-A twinaxial connector.

Resistors connected between the loops damp high-frequency resonances. Axial shorting conductors form an electrostatic shield which minimizes the E-field sensitivity of the sensor.
