Explanation:
By mistake I earlier replied to the question without translating the term "heave to" to the portuguese "em capa"
"Heaving to" in sailing vessels is a method achieved by backing the sails and fixing the rudder, causing the vessel to lie across the wind in such away as to bring the boat to a virtual halt. (It will of course drift down wind). In motor vessels, the same term is used but the procedure to maintain this position would require some forward propulsion of the motors.
