Definition
Quality of service is the ability for an application to obtain the network service it requires for successful operation.
Where the network service is superior to the normal network service, discussions about QoS rapidly turn to the authentication of access to the superior network service. If access to superior network service is not controlled, then the superior network service can be used to carry a very effective denial of service attack.
