Sugestão pessoal: se o "espécime", digamos, parecer estranho, for restrito a determinadas regiões, etc etc etc - ou seja, na maioria das vezes, coloco o nome científico após o nome popular.

E também na maioria das vezes, eu mesma trato de encontrar esse nome científico e, of course, de salvar a fonte (e defender a minha pele também...;o)
