English term or phrase: hallmark cards
Then as Hallmark cards go, you'd be easy to please

Any ideas?

Romanian translation:Platitudine, cliseu, banalitate, kitsch, truism, idee/imagine preconceputa…
Explanation:

1. Sentimentalism (siropos, exagerat), dulcegărie; emotie superificiala, kitsch in general:
- "While Deep Impact was not a stupendous film, I certainly did not feel that it reduced (or inflated) the emotional content to that of a Hallmark card."
- "Contemporary poetry without irony often sounds sentimental, like a Hallmark card or a self-help manual."
- "I think the appeal of his work lies in its simplicity. Its sentimentality resonates with people in the way a Hallmark card does. While Kinkade's work seems to make people happy, it lacks weight and richness."
- "It's a hysterical, schizophrenic mishmash of styles and elements, a gruesome and realistic war film wrapped in a weepy Hallmark card."
- "Even Impressionism, which can now seem as banal as a Hallmark card, caused quite a sensation when it first."
- "Hallmark card emotions: frigid and/or sentimental (the language and imagery are totally inappropriate with regard to the subject/emotion). No real emotion is contained or conveyed to the reader."
- "You're sweet and predictable as a Hallmark card, except for that little note of pathos."
- "Michele Harvey's bucolic scenes, which capture soft morning mist in glades or along country roads, would make a Hallmark card blush."
- "Sweet but not to cloying, sentimental but not a Hallmark card."
- "Use of strings and horns can't disguise lyrics of Hallmark card sentimentality."

2. Cliseu, stereotip, sablon, idee preconceputa:
- "The Preacher's Wife is a two-hour Hallmark card - sappy and unoriginal yet uplifting and touching."
- "But in spite of the subject matter, the poem does not 'feel' like a Hallmark card. Perhaps the poem is the natural result of an intelligent poet finding pure joy in being a mother—an ideal blending of emotion and thought."
- "Matrix Reloaded: the philosophical 'point' would fit on a Hallmark card (It's because of our ability to choose and our ability to love that we're able to defeat destructive nihilism, as symbolized by Agent Smith. Woohoo.)"
- "Rather than rely on the old standbys - the roses, the chocolates, the Hallmark card - give your sweetheart a more enduring gift: an attentive, considerate, decorous you."
- "We have a limited, Hallmark card idea about motherhood in this culture."
- "And Smith's got one, even though it only shows through his persona as 'The Gondola Man' — steering the ship, documenting in third person the tragic, romantic trials of its passengers, interjecting his Hallmark-card punch line at the chorus and sacrificing self-righteousness for transcendence."
- "But at the same time, it's a testament to human nature, not the cheap, sentimental Hallmark card version of human nature."

- "A hickey from Kenickie is like a Hallmark card, when you only care enough to send the very best."
- "Adults everywhere are saying and writing 'thanks for sharing'. Gawwwd. The Hallmark Card pods have taken over! The Czar would like to share this: 'thanks for sharing' is a polite way of saying, 'I really don't give a rat's ass for anything you've just said, but I don't want to tell you what I really think, because I'm afraid of confrontation, so I'll say 'thanks for sharing!' Or, 'I really don't have the intellect to process your information and give a thoughtful response, so I'll smile like the Church Lady and say 'thanks for sharing.'"
- "I couldn't imagine Spacey's speech at the end coming out of the mouth of his wisecracking Lester Burnham. See if you can. It sounds like a passage out of 'Deep Thoughts' or a Hallmark card."
- "Did you read that in a Hallmark card, or something?"

JOE: Hey, Sam, do you like Christmas?
SAM: I love it. The lights, the Christmas carols, the gifts, it makes me feel all warm and cozy. Do you like it?
JOE: You know, it's really hectic and has gotten too commercial, and sometimes it seems more about Santa than anything thing else, but it does make people stop and think about love, if just for one moment.
SAM: Wow, I never heard you so sentimental. I'm touched. I could almost cry.
JOE: Wipe your eyes, I read it off a Hallmark card.
SAM: You almost had me going...

CONCLUZIE:

1. I've always wanted to have someone to hold, someone to love. After having met you, I've changed my mind.
2. I must admit, you brought Religion in my life. I never believed in Hell until I met you.
3. Looking back over the years that we've been together, I can't help but wonder: what was I thinking?
4. As the days go by, I think of how lucky I am that you're not here to ruin it for me.
5. Congratulations on your promotion. Before you go, though, would you like to take this knife out of my back? You'll probably need it again.
6. When we were together, you always said you'd die for me. Now that we've broken up, I think it's time you kept your promise.
7. We have been friends for a very long time; let's say we call it quits.
8. I'm so miserable without you, it's almost like you're here.
9. If you ever need a friend...buy a dog.
10. Congratulations on your new bundle of joy. Did you ever find out who the father was?

Sper ca nu v-am plictisit de moarte!

E adevarat, eu am interpretat expresia in sensul \"as the saying goes...\" si poate nu am avut dreptate.

Expresia de baza aici e \"as ... go\". Iata explicatia din Oxford:

GO
\"15. To have ordinarily a certain degree or range of value, amount, excellence, etc. as men, things, etc. go: judging by the standard commonly attained.\"
Un exemplu foarte sugestiv, tot din Oxford:
\"1872 BLACK Adv. Phaeton xxii. 314 It was a good enough luncheon, as hotels go.\"

Propun in loc:
HTH
