Evaluarea pericolelor pentru mediu are ca obiectiv determinarea clasificării și a etichetării unei substanțe în conformitate cu Directiva 67/548/CEE și identificarea concentrației substanței sub care nu se preconizează producerea efectelor adverse în mediul înconjurător de interes. Această concentrație este cunoscută sub numele de concentrație predictibilă fără efect (predicted no-effect concentration – PNEC).
