Este vorba despre elementul profilat / stantat care ajuta la conectarea a doua placi ale schimabtorului intre ele. Schimbatorul de caldura este fabricat prin presarea placilor componente si strangerea lor rigida intre placile de capat. Etanseitatea schimbatorului produs in acest mod este data de garniturile de etansare care se monteaza intre placile schimbatorului, in jurul golurilor de trecere a fluidului. Stantarea / profilarea placilor este necesara pentru pozitionarea corecta a acestor garnituri.
