Nuisance dust or inert dust can be defined as dust that contains less than 1% quartz. Because of its low content of silicates, nuisance dust has a long history of having little adverse effect on the lungs. Any reaction that may occur from nuisance dust is potentially reversible. However, excessive concentrations of nuisance dust in the workplace may reduce visibility (e.g., iron oxide), may cause unpleasant deposits in eyes, cars, and nasal passages (e.g., portland cement dust), and may cause injury to the skin or mucous membranes by chemical or mechanical action.
Fibrogenic dust such as free crystalline silica (FCS) or asbestos, is biologically toxic and, if retained in the lungs, can form scar tissue and impair the lungs' ability to function properly.

From an occupational health point of view, dust is classified by size into three primary categories:
Sunt de acord ca nu reactioneaza, dar nu numai chimic, ci in orice fel, deci nu are actiune asupra corpului omenesc. Reactiile corpului omenesc sunt chimice. (oxigen, CO2, Fe, Na, K, H2O,etc)
Astfel de texte m-au facut sa aleg INERT, pentru ca este mentionat ca atare in literatura de specialitate in SUA, Franta si Romania. Cel mai mult m-a determinat faptul ca in mine (tatal meu a lucrat in mina) se foloseste foarte des termenul de praf inert.http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz...

Respirable dust
Inhalable dust
Total dust
The following analytical methods are used:
· Respirable nuisance dust: NIOSH 0600
· Total nuisance dust: NIOSH 0500 http://www.cwc.org/plastic/pl977fs.pdf
Eu tind sa cred ca e vorba despre diferenta dintre nuisance and hazard.
Eu as include acest aspect in traducere: pulberi disconfortante.
Un articol partial accesibil imi confirma aceasta banuiala: http://www.scribd.com/doc/8756588/Igiena-mediului-Rezumat
Dear colleagues, please look into it. You know about being subjective, each of us thinks about one term or another as being "the right one". Please look at each explanation and reasoning without any biases.
Note: I use mostly English in my posts because I have to keep my keyboard on English mostly, so I don't have diacritical characters, and it doesn't look good without them.
Secondly, I considered the term INERT as being "neutral" in this context, not pushing either in the NEGATIVE direction, like harmful/dangerous nor in POZITIVE direction, like this "nuisance" as "not harmful/not bad/inoffensive", because the "nuisance" behavior in normal life is something bothering....but not killing you.
Alina,
din documentul atasat, citat din OSHA, se pare ca "The boric acid is not harmful, NOT HAZARDOUS" to humans", deci NU este periculos, primejdios, s.a.m.d.
"Nuisance particulates is a term used by the ACGIH to describe airborne materials (solids and liquids) which have little harmful effect on the lungs and do not produce significant disease or harmful effects when exposures are kept under reasonable control. Nuisance particulates may also be called nuisance dusts. High levels of nuisance particulates in the air may reduce visibility and can get into the eyes, ears and nose. Removal of this material by washing or rubbing may cause irritation"

Occupational Exposure Limits: Boric Acid is listed/regulated by OSHA, Cal OSHA and ACGIH as "Particulate Not Otherwise Classified" or "Nuisance Dust." http://www.lewisu.edu/academics/biology/pdf/boric_acid_dry.p...
Acid has a relatively low acute toxicity. Small amounts (e.g., a teaspoonful) swallowed accidentally are not likely to cause effects; swallowing amounts larger than that may cause gastrointestinal symptoms.

Multumesc.
