În statistică se foloseşte şi dispersie, ca sinonim perfect pentru variaţie - totuşi nu pot fi sigură că aici este vorba de un termen statistic neapărat. Poate să fie, dar oricum, repet, "variaţie" sună mai natural în orice context, fie el strict financiar sau statistic.

"Fluctuaţie" nu este un termen statistic propriu-zis; "abaterea" poate fi de mai multe feluri, cea mai folosită fiind cea medie pătratică, dar oricum în engleză abatere = deviation.
