Este suprafata de fund parcursa de o unealta activa intr-o operatiune de pescuit (de regula traulul de fund). Se calculeaza multiplicand deschiderea orizontala a uneltei cu distanta parcursa. Daca se coreleaza cu densitatea pestelui per unitate de suprafata se obtine biomasa caracteristica zonei pescuite.
