Notiunea este aproape inexistenta in limba si cultura din Romania, dar este extrem de comuna in alte parti; intr-atat incat presedintele american este "President Elect" in perioada dintre rezultatele alegerilor si depunerea juramantului, ocazie cu care devine presedinte in exercitiu.
In cazul organizatiilor (profesionale, de cele mai multe ori) in fiecare an se da un vot de incredere celor care sunt, deja, membri in forul de conducere si se propune / voteaza / accepta un nou membru. Noul membru porneste "de jos", urmand ca in fiecare an, daca-si face treaba cum trebuie, sa avenseze prin acord in pozitia imediat superioara.
Inainte de a primi confirmarea ca "president / chair", anul de "president / chair elect" este considerat pregatitor.

"chair" nu inseamna automat "presedinte" ci desemneaza, in mod normal, o pozitie cu un anumit grad de importanta. In textul de mai sus "chair" ... cere traducerea cu "presedinte". |
