Learning support assistant este persoana care asista un copil sau student pentru imbunatatirea performantelor scolare.Se ocupa in mod special de un copil sau student care are nevoie de mai mult sprijin in clasa sau acasa.Pot fi calificati sau necalificati,dar au material didactic special pe care scoala le pune la dispozitie.

Explanation:
Aceasta functie nu exista inca in sistemul de invatamant primar si secundar din Romania, sub forma existenta in Marea Britanie.
O functie similara o gasim in invatamantul universitar sub numele de "asistent didactic" echivalentul unui "teaching assistant" in UK.

Personal, as alege acest termen pentru a traduce "learning suport".

Nu-i o ocupaţie nouă la români. E o ocupaţie veche care se defăşoară în alte condiţii, ca toate ocupaţile de altfel. Din acest motiv nu ştiu dacă e neapărată nevoie de un termen nou. Poate fi reabilitat cel vechi, care constituie şi un reper cultural.

Eu de fapt spuneam că este vorba despre exact aceeaşi funcţie fundamentală, în care cineva ajută pe altcineva să înveţe, pentru că acest altcineva nu se poate descurca singur din diferite motive: nu poate sau nu vrea. Aceste motive, diverse şi precise, pot cere o anumită specializare a acestui tip de asistent social, este adevărat, dar funcţia lui de bază este aceeaşi: sprijină procesul de învăţare.
