Rezumat: O funcţionalitate foarte importantă a unui serviciu pentru solicitare de ajutor în caz de urgenţă este localizarea persoanei care apelează numărul serviciului.
În momentul unui apel la numărul de urgenţă, persoana aflată în dificultate poate să nu cunoască cu exactitate ori să nu poată comunica operatoarei, din diferite motive, adresa unde se află sau pur şi simplu pierderea de timp necesară aflării acestei informaţii trebuie eliminată. Aşadar, este necesară determinarea în mod automat a localizării apelantului.

Adică, chiar şi după încheierea apelului de urgenţă (şi închidere aparatului) acesta rămâne "cuplat" şi poate fi detectat. Ieşirea din acest regim se realizează doar după un anumit interval de timp (ex. 10 min) sau în momentul efectuării unui apel normal.
