Normally these switch machines are trailable but can also be made non-trailable by installing an additional device.
Such a device mainly consists of a pin to block the internal switch lock. It is available both in permanently non-trailable version and in a version non-trailable only after an electric impulse, either independently or in connection with the switch operation control. The trailability feature ensures that normal conditions can be restored after a trailing has occurred without any subsequent on-the-spot-intervention. Like all switch machines corresponding to the State Railways specifications, the ... and ... switch machines are equipped with a sensing device. The sensing function is achieved by the tongue moving against the stock rail and detecting its presence and configuration.

Talonarea macazului/acelor macazului.

1. In Australia we have a couple of types of trailable machines.
To put it in its simplest form, when the wheels of the train or rollingstock enter the points in a trailing direction the wheels will push the open switch closed and the closed switch open. To allow this, the locking of the points equipment will usually be rail mounted i.e. claw locked.With claw locking the switches are not usually tied together and move independently allowing the one side to unlock move both switches and then lock.
If the locking was a machine with internal locking similar to a F.P.L. ( Facing Point Lock ), the switches being tied together and moving together, will not allow the points to travel greater than a certain distance ( 3-4mm) if they are forced further, damage will result to the equipment. Once mechanically locked they will be electrically detected and signals may be cleared.
