Там проводится различие между "поставочными" и "расчетными" фьючерсами
Из приведенного контекста не очевидно, о каком варианте идет речь, т.к. слово "equity" может означать как законтрактованное количество нефти "в натуре", так и его денежный эквивалент
(см. определение выше)
В этом смысле понятия "поставки" и "расчеты" в контексте "Accounting" эквивалентны, т.к. и то и другое означает исполнение контракта (settlement): в первом случае - натурой, во втором - деньгами или равноценным "бумажным" покрытием
Иными словами, выбор "поставки" или "расчеты" определяется с учетом более широкого контекста

скорее всего означает "защиту" (protecting) сырой нефти, предназначенной для (to be used for) переработки внутри группы, от налогообложения (см. контекст выше) - ибо таковое не столь оправдано в отличие от налогов на нефть как товар для дальнейших коммерческих операций
Кстати, в связи с упоминанием сырой нефти перевод "поставки" сразу казался более подходящим
Вариант "расчеты" был дан как "страховочный" на случай если широкий контекст укажет на какую-либо схему типа equity = товар <-> деньги
