Cool season grasses –
These grasses begin their growth and/ or are planted in the spring or early summer. Most of their growth occurs during the coolest months of the year.
These are: Bahiagrass, Bermundagrass, Browntop millet, Carpetgrass, Corn, Crabgrass, Dallisgrass, Eastern gamagrass, Forage sorghum, Foxtail millet, Grain sorghum, Indiangrass, Johnsongrass, Pearl millet, Sudangass, Switchgrass
Warm season grasses –
These grasses begin growth and/or are planted in the spring or early summer. The majority of their growth occurs during the warmest months of the year.
These are: Barley, Kentucky bluegrass, Oats, Orchardgrass, Prairiegrass, Rescuegrass, Rye, Tall fescue, Timothy, Wheat
