when calling Master xxx(name)

Can we call a person who is a specialist and master of many things including life, wisdom and so on and can lead and teach other people ”Мастер” in Russian ?? ex; Мастер Peter Smith..

or, is there any better expression??

Asker: thank you for your interesting answer, yes, actually, you are right but i can not use it in this situation. by the way, sorry for silly question, but why can we call Master Yoda from star wars as "Мастер Йода"??

neutral  Vitali Stanisheuski: Несколько стилистически окрашено. Или пафосно, или иронично. / Только что заметил, что аскер из Японии. А вопр. значки, видимо, иероглифами были. Так что может быть и подойдет :)

  -> С одной стороны да, а с другой, может и нет - если "master" в английском тексте это, например, перевод с японского (что более чем вероятно!)
