English term or phrase: surveyor

The coordinates of purlins are positioned according to approved drawings. The ****surveyor**** examines using theodolite that the location of purlins are in conformity with the respective lay out plans and distance between purlins are correct. All the mistakes done in steel construction could be reflected from trapezoidal sheet to halters which cause a lot of problems on the finished surface. Hence ****surveyor**** will check the steel substructure and point out the possible mistakes which are out of tolerances before all installation steps start.

I believe the process is called "теодолитовая съемка" or "осмотр с помощью теодолита", but not sure as to the equivalent Russian translation of the person's position, i.e. Surveyor.

Asker: here http://www.proz.com/kudoz/english_to_russian/construction_civil_engineering/4642373-survey.html your opinion is totally different though, where you say that "[съемка] Это в фото-, кинемато- и топографии." and your suggested term is "осмотр, обследование". How would you comment on this inconsistency? Thanks for your input and happy new year!
